Katie Jamieson
Katie’s work hovers enticingly on the edge of painting and of sculpture. It simultaneously belongs to both and neither, constantly moving in and out of disciplines, eluding definition.
After completing a BA in Fine Art, she went on to train at RADA as a scenic artist in Theatre and Film. “Working in theatre gave me a foundation to explore creativity in a dynamic and multifaceted way”, explains Katie. She has acquired a range of skills and techniques that enables her to develop her own individual style and practice.
Her work often has a fragility and transient nature, whether she is creating large scale paintings or hundreds of small-scale objects. She finds a great deal of her inspiration in the heavy construction work that shapes the city, in its colours and forms, but also in its psychological effect.
